Director Ömür Atay Takes Us Behind The Scenes Rave-Reviewed Turkish Drama, ‘Kızıl Goncalar’ (Red Roses)
Three decades have passed since Ömür Atay started making films. At present, he has also started directing.
Following his graduation from the Fine Arts School of Istanbul Marmara University, Ömür produced a string of short films during his school days. The significant success of his short film Necropolis at national and international film festivals as the Best Film at several of them was an excellent initiation into the world of cinema.
Later successes with Anlat Istanbul, Kardeşler only consolidated his position as a venerated Turkish
filmmaker.
Though he feels that Necropolis is special as one of his favorite projects, and for the stage it gave him an
opportunity to shine on, there has only been strength to strength since then. From many other shorts, features, anthologies, dizis, and limited series for digital platformswhat he presents comes obvious in terms of breadth of experience. Being the showrunner of one of the current prime-time series, Kızıl Goncalar (Red Roses), has crowned him with a new high of popularity. We are thrilled to introduce him to our readers!
He began his career with a short film, but crossing over di erent genres is not feasible as a single independent process.
After and during that time, Ömür took courses in cinema at the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Ömür says, “When Kızıl Goncalar was mentioned to me as a project in its first form, to be honest, I was not interested without too much thought over the potential of this project.
